Herrie Pullom
With over 19 years of experience teaching and 30 years of performing in various ensembles,
Herrie is able to bring real world experiences, as well as, his own unique, energetic, and creative
style to his performances.
This St. Charles, MO native comes from a family of talented musicians. Herrie’s Grandfather
was a singer and played guitar with various artists. His two Great Uncles were singers as part of
the Blair Gospel Singers. Herrie started drumming at the age of 7 years old, was self-taught, and
never looked back. His enthusiastic interest in drums came after watching different drummers at
his father’s church and propelled him to keep playing at every opportunity. Herrie’s interest in
Jazz came in 6th grade when he joined the middle school Jazz Band.
Herrie began his marching experience, as a student, under Scott Taylor at St. Charles West High
School. His drum corps marching experience with the Syracuse Brigadiers Drum Bugle Corps
allowed him to study under percussion instructors Bob Vitti, Jason Parent, and Scott Johnson.
Herrie began teaching at St. Charles West High School, after high school as Battery
Caption Head. He was also Section Leader for Royolaires under Lavelle Jones at this time.
Herrie’s teaching experience expands over 19 years as Battery Caption Head for Windsor High
School, Lindbergh High School, Pattonville High School, Francis Howell Central High School,
Voyager Intrepid Percussion Ensemble, and McClure North. Herrie’s teaching also includes
Snare Tech for Show Me Sound, and Oakville High School. Herrie Pullom is currently the
Battery Caption Head for Francis Howell High School, St. Charles, MO. As a teacher, Herrie
continues to inspire, motivate, and put high demands on his students to become the very best
they can be in both their personal and performing life while still enjoying the art.
Herrie’s musical talents are not limited to his amazing ability to play drums. He was part of the
singing group Above Average ft. 1020 from 1994-1996. They opened for artists such as E40,
Fabu, Outkast, Bone Thugz n Harmony, Notorious Big, and Anita Howard. Although Herrie can
sing and dance, drumming is his most impressive talent.
Herrie Pullom’s style is expressive, smooth, & emotional. His broad experience ranges from
Gospel, Jazz Fusion, and Blues, pop and versatile in other genres as well. Herrie’s incredible
sense of humor and passion comes across whether teaching, recording, or playing live. He is able
to balance between professionalism, strong work ethic, and sociability making him an admirable
colleague and artist.
Herrie is also an active performer, designer, assistant choreographer, and snare arranger with
Stikyard, a rhythmically charged show of drums and percussion's. During his time with Stikyard,
he has performed along side Christian Performing Artist Darlene Zschech of Hillsong at Joyce
Meyers Conference, Bo Bice at the Grand Ole Opry, TN, LifeChurch.TV, OK, World Outreach
Church, TN. Stikyard has also performed during half-time shows for the NBA, Oklahoma City
Thunder and Cleveland Cavs. Stikyard was honored to play with The Black Keys, the Grammy
winning rock duo from Ohio, and for Drummer Boy Production at Grace Church, Maryland, MO.
In addition to teaching and performing, Herrie is an active drum set player for Multiple Churches
in the St. Louis Metro area. In 2013 Herrie played drum set for Dan Dean of Grammy artists
Phillips Craig and Dean, Christian Group, when they performed in St. Louis. Currently Herrie is
performing with the Bill Clark Band. The Bill Clark Band's first CD, Promised Land, was
released in August 2015, and offers the sounds of Jazz Rock Fusion and Blues.
