Coco Soul
Bio
Born and Raised in St. Louis Missouri, Coco Soul (Rochelle Angelique Walker) is known as a quadruple threat- singer/actress/musician/teacher. As a classically trained pianist since the age of 6, music is definitely in her blood. Her lineage includes jazz musicians who played with the likes of Duke Ellington, Ella Fitzgerald, and Louis Armstrong. Coco also lived in Atlanta, Georgia for over 10 years working with numerous producers as a songwriter/vocalist for major production companies.
When returning back to Saint Louis, she moved forward with her career as an R&B/Soul singer and has graced the stages and opened for the following artists: Dwele at Jazz at the Bistro(Stl), Musiq at The Pageant (Stl), India Arie at Live on the Levee (Stl), Dianne Reeves/Al Jarreau at The St. Louis Jazz Festival (Stl), Biz Markie at the Pageant (Stl), Morris Day and the Time at The Ribfest (Stl), Mint Condition at The Pageant(Stl) and Anthony Hamilton/Jaheim/Raheem DeVaughn at the Verizon Ampitheater (Stl).
Along with singing, Coco began a career in musical theater in Saint Louis. She could be seen in wonderful roles in musicals such as Tell Me Something Good, Caroline or Change, Dreamgirls, The Full Monty, as well as Menopause the Musical (longest running musical in St. Louis).
Coco has also provided entertainment to local organizations such as The Gateway Classic, 13 Black Katz, Delta Sigma Theta Incorporated, Fair St. Louis, Alive Magazine, St. Louis Magazine, and Cardinals Care Organization.
With her passion for teaching , Coco began sharing her craft and experience in the educational arena. She has served as the music teacher/choral instructor for her alma mater Cardinal Ritter College Prep, drama and music instructor for COCA(Center of Creative Arts) – the 4th largest creative arts institute in the country, as well as teaching private piano and voice. She also opened THE SOUL ACADEMY OF MUSIC where she taught children and adults with piano and vocal coaching. She is also affiliated with programs in conjunction with The Sheldon Concert Hall, Opera Saint Louis, Girls Holla Back, and SPG Youth Organization.
