James A. Jackson, II is one of the Show –Me State’s best kept secrets. He began his percussive career at the age of 3 and continued to improve his craft by studying jazz, piano, music theory. At this same time James absorbed the influence of various “Greats” in the drumming community and has been featured on various local and national recording artist projects. James is also a sought after music producer, starting his production company, JAJ2 Music in 2005.
He was featured in Modern Drummer magazine as a “Drummer on the Move” based on reviews of his electric performances and his instructional drum DVD and CD, IT’S TIME. As an original member of the jazz quartet, Good 4 the Soul, an explosive 4 piece that draws upon jazz, funk , gospel and soul to deliver unforgettable performances throughout the St. Louis area, James has become a respected jazz artist in his own rite. Good 4 the Soul is featured annually on the Jazz St. Louis performance season and has recently recorded a live CD, entitled “Good 4 the Soul: Live at the Bistro”.
